Shehani Jayalath, MSc
Research Manager

Background & expertise
I did a bachelor in biomedical sciences with minors in neuroscience and counseling at the university of Hong Kong and an Erasmus Mundus joint master in neuroscience based at the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Applying neuroscience to mental health constantly drives me, be it in uncovering new treatments or improving diagnostic procedures. My bachelor thesis investigated the mechanisms of deep brain stimulation as a potential therapy for treatment resistant depression and my master thesis involved identifying brain (EEG) and heart biomarkers of resilience to stress.
Why BlinkLab
When I hear from some parents who participated in our pilot about the struggles of obtaining a neurodevelopmental diagnosis and how eager they are to support us, it really excites me to keep working towards our mission. If science is to make any real impact, it has to eventually be pushed out of a lab and into the real-world. I love that this is the core of BlinkLab! Working together with an interdisciplinary team to apply neuroscience and technology to help families is very fulfilling.
My Role
I joined BlinkLab in May 2025. BlinkLab perfectly aligns with my drive to push impactful neuroscience research into the real world, so I am super grateful for the opportunity to work here! I work in the clinical team as a research manager. My roles are primarily in managing the ASD pilot study from participant screening till completion, data monitoring and improving participant recruitment.
Meet the rest of our team!
With the roots of our company lying in the neurological research field, our team is built from strong academic knowledge gained at prestigious institutions such as Princeton University and Erasmus MC.
