Aurora Papotti, MSc

I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Trento. After that, I joined the EIT Digital Double Master’s Program in Cyber Security, which was a joint degree between the University of Trento (Italy) and the University of Turku (Finland). Following my master’s degree, I pursued a PhD in Cyber Security at Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. My research focused on the empirical assessment of tools that automatically detect and fix software vulnerabilities, as well as on understanding how developers interact with and use these tools during code review processes.

What I really enjoy about BlinkLab is that it is a young and highly motivated team. You can clearly see that everyone is putting a lot of effort into their work, and that energy is very motivating. Another aspect I really value is the direct impact of the work we do. Unlike in academia, where the results of your work can sometimes feel distant from real-world applications, here you can immediately see how your contributions affect the company and the product.This environment keeps me constantly stimulated and learning new things every day, which is exactly the kind of challenge I was looking for. I enjoy pushing myself and tackling problems even when they are outside my current skill set, because that is how I grow both professionally and personally.

I joined BlinkLab in January 2026 as a Full-Stack Data Scientist. I was motivated to join because I wanted a role where I could apply the research skills I developed during my academic career, while also expanding my expertise in data science. During my PhD, I did not have many opportunities to work deeply with data science techniques, so I saw this position as a great way to bridge that skills gap while working on impactful real-world problems. On a daily basis, my work involves developing and maintaining data pipelines, analyzing and interpreting complex datasets, building and evaluating machine learning models.
