Emily Soong, MSc
Clinical Research Manager and FDA Regulatory Lead

Background & expertise
I hold bachelor’s degrees in psychology and fashion merchandising, and an M.S. in Neuroscience. My graduate work focused on affective psychophysiology and smartphone camera-based measures of the startle reflex in relation to psychopathic characteristics. I am pursuing a PhD that builds on this work, examining shared features and distinctions between psychopathic characteristics and autism spectrum disorder.
Why BlinkLab
I do not think of it as a pure mission pull. I like combining science and business into something translational that works in the real world. The startup spirit here lets people learn from each other while solving new problems every day. I learn fast, I contribute, and I can see the impact. The mission matters, but I am also drawn to what the company offers its people.
My Role
I started as a research intern at BlinkLab in September 2022 while studying neuroscience, and I joined full-time in September 2024 after graduating. I now lead FDA regulatory affairs and also support clinical research. On the clinical side, I participate in developing recruitment strategies and materials, manage participant outreach and communication, and oversee data review and verification. On the regulatory side, I manage timelines, coordinate site engagement and IRB submissions, identify and resolve issues for the 510(k) clinical study, and handle regulatory and compliance requirements. I also work with our UX designer and App developer to turn usability feedback into practical product updates.
