Highlights
- Managing Director & CEO of BlinkLab Limited, Dr Henk-Jan Boele, has been invited to speak at a prestigious in-person scientific workshop hosted by the SimonsFoundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI) in New York City, USA.
- The prestigious event holds presentations, panel discussions, and workshops centred on unbiased, quantitative approaches to measuring motor and observable behaviours in autism, including facial motion and fine-grained motor phenotyping.
- Invited to present on BlinkLab’s technology for analysing facial motion and behavioural signals, as well as their recent journal publication in Autism Research, reflecting global recognition of BlinkLab’s research and platform capabilities.
- The SFARI event targets leading international experts in autism research, neuroscience, and behavioural analytics.
BlinkLab Limited (ASX:BB1) (“BlinkLab” or the “Company”), a leading digital healthcare company specialising in AI-powered diagnostics, is pleased to announce that the Company’sManaging Director, CEO and Co-Founder, Dr Henk-Jan Boele, has been invited to participate as a speaker in an upcoming in-person workshop hosted by the Simons Foundation Autism ResearchInitiative (SFARI).
SFARI is one of the world’s leading organisations supporting autism research, with a mission to advance the science behind neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, supporting over 300leading investigators around the globe through a variety of funding mechanisms and grants. SFARI is hosting the event in Manhattan, New York, which will bring together some of the world’s leading experts in autism research, neuroscience, and behavioural analytics related to neurodevelopmental conditions.
Dr Henk-Jan Boele, Managing Director and Co-Founder CEO, commented:
“I am very pleased to have received this opportunity to share what BlinkLab has been working on and achieved over the course of developing our technology. I will present and discuss our latest peer-reviewed publication in a leading journal, Autism Research. For us, this is a unique opportunity to demonstrate our potential to recognise and quantify motor and facial behaviour in autism. I am confident that our work will be informative to the research community at the event, and I look forward to contributing to the discussions around the role of emerging technologies for quantitative approaches to autism assessment.
Opportunities like this, where BlinkLab has the chance to engage with leaders in our field and the communities that will benefit from what we are developing, both patient and scientific, have always been pivotal to our mission and approach. Engagement with research bodies at this level is an absolute privilege but also reflects the growing international interest in technology like ours, which is able to provide objective, scalable, and reliable support for autism research and diagnosis.”
About The SFARI Workshop
The Event is designed as a two-day workshop where participants will examine unbiased approaches to quantifying motor and other observable behaviours, and to think about the role of technology in defining and quantifying motor phenotypes in humans; particularly those with conditions like autism, and how changes in motor behaviour (e.g., repetitive mannerisms, restricted or exaggerated facial expressions, etc.) might be used to index other core phenotypes of autism.
Dr Boele will participate in panel discussions with key opinion leaders in the field, as well as present BlinkLab’s work on its technology’s ability to capture and analyse facial motion and behaviours via smartphone in order to inform the diagnostic process for autism, as recently published in the peer-reviewed journal publication in Autism Research1,2. The presentation and workshop is highly specialised, focusing on the methodological and analytical capabilities of BlinkLab’s technology in recognising behaviours, and the role of technology in quantitative motor phenotyping.
About The Simons Foundation & SFARI
Founded in 1994 by American mathematician, investor, hedge fund manager and philanthropist, Jim Simons, together with philanthropist and advocate in the scientific community, Marilyn Simons, theSimons Foundation is a US-based private foundation dedicated to advancing research in mathematics, the sciences, and neuroscience. Through its Simons Foundation Autism ResearchInitiative (SFARI), the Foundation supports and assists with the coordination of cutting-edge research aimed at improving the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of autism.
SFARI is widely recognised as a leading autism research organisation globally, and it works to fund large-scale, collaborative projects while supporting the development of novel technologies, resources, and analytical approaches to better understand autism-related behaviour. This announcement has been approved by the Board of Directors.
